The ‘Research Education Program’ conducts educational and research programs in close collaboration with the Department of Health Sciences and Health Policy at the University of Lucerne. The mission of the program is to promote young researchers and PhD candidates with the goal to contribute to optimal functioning and social inclusion of people with health conditions by focusing on “the lived experience”.
Therefore, the main educational program is a structured and modular organized PhD program which has its roots in a community-based approach linked to the concept of human functioning. This English-based program will be established to create a competitive research environment. In addition, the curriculum emphasizes scientific methods and research skills. A desired cluster “Functioning and Health” (at the University of Lucerne) involves the establishment of an international collaboration network.
It integrates educational, research and other initiatives within the university as well as regional, national and international university and extra-university partners including SPF and partners of the governmental, non-governmental and private sector especially in the area of health and insurance.
