It is the mission of Swiss Paraplegic Research (SPF) to sustainably improve the situation of people with paraplegia or tetraplegia through clinical and interdisciplinary research in the long-term. The areas that are aimed to be improved are functioning, social integration, equality of opportunity, health, self-determination and quality of life. It is the proclaimed goal of SPF to promote the study of health from a holistic point of view, by focusing on the ‘lived experience’ of persons with health conditions and their particular interaction with society. SPF is therefore establishing a research network for rehabilitation research from a comprehensive perspective on a national and international level. This network will make it possible to practically apply the latest research findings in order to provide the best possible care and reintegration for people with paraplegia or tetraplegia.
