Recovery Room

In the interval between surgery and returning to the ward, patients are observed in the recovery room.

During this time, the following receive particular attention:

  • Recovery of adequate spontaneous respiration as well as other vital functions (heart rate, blood pressure, temperature, etc.)
  • Confirming regression of regional anaesthesia levels
  • Return of an adequate level of consciousness
  • Treatment of pain
  • Identifying and treating side effects and consequences of anaesthesia and surgery such as nausea, vomiting, bleeding, etc.
