Practical Aspects of Anaesthesia

The day before the operation
On the day before surgery, the risk factors specific to the anaesthetic will be discussed during the pre-anaesthetic visit. On this basis, an anaesthetic technique tailored to the individual patient and the type and duration of the operation will be selected. The patient’s personal preferences will be taken into account as far as possible.

The day of surgery
On the day of surgery, calming, anxiety-reducing medication is given in preparation for the anaesthetic. The patient is then brought to the surgical suite.

Induction of anaesthesia
The preparation for the anaesthetic begins in the anaesthesia induction room. This includes monitoring of  the heart activity, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation. In addition, an intravenous infusion is started.
