Partners

The SPG places great importance on the development and maintenance of its research network, for it is only within such a network that a national and international competence centre for clinical and rehabilitation research can prosper. The SPG continually works with its network of partners on research projects that take place on both a national and an international scale.

Since 2010, the SPG has participated in the “Swiss Spinal Cord Injury Cohort Study (SwiSCI)” (www.swisci.ch), thereby working closely with all of Switzerland’s paraplegia centres, the Swiss Paraplegics Association (SPA), individual paraplegics throughout Switzerland, work groups from Swiss universities, Swiss neurorehabilitation centres and a number of European and international task forces. As a result of this collaboration, it is hoped that all the latest findings regarding the best-possible clinical treatment and reintegration of paraplegics can be applied well into the future.

The SPG, by way of the Swiss Paraplegic Centre (SPC), is also an active member of the European Multicenter Study on Spinal Cord Injury (EMSCI, https://www.emsci.org/). More than 20 European specialty clinics belong to this ever-growing paraplegia research network, which is currently the largest such network in the world. Studies are regularly conducted and analysed on neurological and functional recovery, as well as the pain levels and activity of a patient upon admission, with the goal of achieving optimal evaluation and treatment standards in the area of paraplegia.
