Design for Inclusion
The Swiss Paraplegic Foundation (SPF) is a globally unique solidarity network, which supports people with spinal cord injuries. The focus here is on comprehensive rehabilitation for paraplegics and tetraplegics, with the aim of enabling them to lead a self-determined life that is as independent as possible.
A self-determined life also means allowing wheelchair users to surround themselves with beautiful products, without having to limit themselves exclusively to the pragmatic functionality of medical aids. Like able-bodied people, paraplegics and tetraplegics need aesthetic and appealing products. To meet this need, the Swiss Paraplegic Foundation works closely with various partners and has launched three exciting projects.
In addition, we intend to promote an in-depth understanding of the needs of people with spinal cord injuries at fashion and design schools. By integrating relevant topics and practical examples into the syllabuses and by supporting inclusive projects, the SPF aims to raise awareness of inclusive design among aspiring fashion and product designers. The aim is not only to develop practical solutions for wheelchair users, but also to increase social awareness of inclusion.

ADAPT by SPF
The project aims to make as many students, designers and people in the clothing industry as possible aware of the needs of people with spinal cord injuries and to encourage them to combine design with function.
