Wheelchair ergometer

Elite wheelchair sports drive our innovations. We transfer insights – such as better materials, production processes, shapes and aerodynamic properties – into wheelchair technology, medicine and rehabilitation of people with a spinal cord injury.

Orthotec has now developed an ergometer together with ETH Zürich and Swiss Paraplegic Research. This measurement devices enables various seating positions in the wheelchair to be compared. The objective is for the strength of the arms to be optimally transferred to the wheel of the wheelchair. This not only leads to better results in wheelchair sports, but the correct seating position also protects the shoulders of wheelchair users in their day-to-day life.
