Outpatient Wound Unit

Decubitus and pressure sores are a major challenge in medicine for individuals with spinal cord injuries.

In our Outpatient Wound Unit, we have many years of experience treating pressure sores.

We work in close interdisciplinary collaboration to try and find an optimal solution for each individual patient within this area of concern.

Regular wound clinics provide optimal support for solving patient problems, if necessary in collaboration with colleagues from plastic surgery. Our qualified wound specialists draw on years of experience and specialist expertise to carry out and manage this demanding work.

All relevant factors that affect progression are also taken into account in an interdisciplinary context to provide support to the overall process:

• Provision of aids, in particular regarding seating position and the supply of pads
• Ideal nutrition
• Bandaging techniques and materials
• Initiation of supporting therapies, such as lymph drainage
