Steep slopes, steps and forest paths are no longer insurmountable obstacles, even if you have limited core muscles.

We worked with Formula 1 engineers from Sauber Technologies and the wheelchair and bike manufacturer Pro Activ to fine-tune every detail, including the frame geometry, chassis, chain guide, suspension, seat ergonomics, and more. We did not make any compromises, either when it came to the components or in terms of our aspiration to take people with reduced core stability cross-country safely and independently. Feedback from wheelchair users, therapists, engineers, cyclists and wheelchair mechanics contributed to the final result.

Fun fact: even able-bodied people are big fans of the handbike!

Wheelchair sports make #freedomofmovement accessible. Sport has a positive effect on body and mind and enriches your day-to-day life. As this is so important to us in our role as a supplier and non-profit organisation, we also want to provide active financial support for wheelchair sports. This is why we offer everyone with a spinal cord injury and similar disabilities around the world 10% discount on the sales price of sports aids. This also applies to institutions.

 

Further specifications: if the sports device is financed by insurance or other contributions, the 10% is applied to the excess. The discount also applies to repairs and modifications, including material, in the area of sports aids. According to our definition, sports aids include, for example, rugby wheelchairs, racing wheelchairs, hand bikes, sports prostheses and orthotic devices, including accessories for the aid, such as wheels, tyres, etc. It does not include accessories such as standard commercial gloves or helmets, etc. Any arising transport costs are excluded from the discount.

We could talk about this for ages, but we will try to keep it brief: this off-road compact bike has outstanding cross-country stability. We aimed to achieve an optimum balance of agility, stability and ground clearance. It is manoeuvrable thanks to the short wheelbase. The special suspension with a high-pivot 4-bar linkage system minimises impacts and vibrations and ensures optimum power transmission. The chassis was designed with the mindset of Formula 1 specialists, with single-wheel suspension, double wishbone suspension and stabiliser. Each wheel therefore reacts optimally to any unevenness. This results in increased safety and greater comfort when off-road.

The OT FOXX K1 is a versatile electric Mountain Handbike, which is an impressive off-road all-rounder. It combines the agility of a cross-country bike with the robustness of an endurance model, making it ideal for challenging trails, steep climbs and exciting descents over roots, sticks and stones. Thanks to the high-quality suspension, the bike can even handle small jumps safely without forfeiting comfort.

This electric Mountain Handbike is ideally suitable for people with a spinal cord injury or restricted mobility who appreciate adventure, stability and performance. Whether you are on a sports tour, long ascent or challenging route, the OT FOXX K1 will get you to your destination safely. For longer journeys, we recommend using a second battery so that you can stay mobile on longer trips.

It is available from CHF 17,824 (plus VAT and transport). Anyone who wants more range should consider a second battery. There are also different options available for the gear change.

We use special belt systems that offer a secure hold for people with a spinal cord injury or reduced core stability. The ergonomically shaped and individually adjustable seat also ensures you feel secure and comfortable. Adjustable leg supports allow for an optimal and stable sitting position, meaning that you always feel safe and comfortable when you’re on the move.
