Integration advice

Returning to working life after a spinal cord injury results in a lot of uncertainty. However, dealing with professional issues even during the initial rehabilitation can help to make reintegration easier. Integration Advice supports people living with spinal cord injury to return to the labour market successfully.

  • Examining a possible return to adjusted activities at the existing employer, or resuming education
  • Comparing the previous job/education profile with the person’s skills and abilities in consideration of the health situation
  • Assessment, training and trial of activities related to the profession/labour market
  • Taking measures to retain the job/education position or to find another position in the existing business or a new business with adjusted activities (e.g. talking to employers, PC aid training, etc.)
  • Academic preparation for the return to the previous education
  • Developing a sustainable occupational integration proposal with the system partners involved

Occupational integration with a system: “Job Matching Tool”

In the Integration Advice, we use standardised recording tools including the “Job Matching” tool. This was developed by Swiss Paraplegic Research and it compares clients’ skills with the requirements of their work.
