The annual Swiss Hand Conference took place in Lugano at the end of November 2025. Many fascinating contributions were made, including by our hand surgeons and hand therapists. Thank you to everyone who was involved!

As part of the ISCoS 2025 Annual Scientific Meeting in Gothenburg, we worked with international colleagues to organise two specialist workshops.

The first workshop was dedicated to „Conservative assessment and management of the tetraplegic hand – what do we know, what else should we include and rationale for evidence-based therapy interventions and was carried out jointly with Jennifer Dunn (New Zealand) and Johanna Wangdell (Sweden).

The second workshop focused on “Restoring function: current strategies in upper limb reconstruction in tetraplegia” and was developed in collaboration with colleagues from Tetra Hand Surgery from Gothenburg, Sweden.

The professional interactions and international collaboration provided valuable inspiration for the further development of evidence-based therapy and treatment concepts.

Our team was actively represented at the 2025 TetraNorth Meeting – an international specialist event on tetraplegia hand surgery and rehabilitation with leading experts from Europe’s Nordic countries.

In their contributions, they talked about key aspects of nerve and tendon transfers as well as rehabilitative learning and therapy principles following nerve reconstructions. The focus was on professional interaction with international colleagues and actively sharing our expertise, providing valuable inspiration for the further development of patient-oriented therapy and treatment approaches.

In June 2025, our hand surgery team attended the prestigious specialist conference, where they presented the latest findings and treatment methods and engaged in intensive discussions with colleagues. The conference provided valuable inspiration for our daily work and strengthened the professional dialogue within our team. We look forward to applying the knowledge we have gained for the benefit of our patients in the future.

Hand and Tetra Hand Surgery is working with the Hand Surgery department of Lucerne Cantonal Hospital (LUKS) to set up an advanced training group and is committed to training young colleagues.
