Gastroenterology and Abdominal surgery
Gastroenterology
Gastrointestinal dysfunction is widely experienced by paraplegic and tetraplegic patients.
Gastro-oesophageal reflux disease, constipation, stomach ulcers and intestinal bleeding are among the problems commonly encountered.
In the event of dysfunction affecting the gastrointestinal tract, our consultancy service for gastroenterology conducts examinations, via gastroscopy for example, on an outpatient basis. Depending on indications, examinations may sometimes be required on an inpatient basis; for a colonoscopy, for example.
The treatment includes a weekly discussion with your consultant, in which you can jointly agree a course of action to address any problems.
Abdominal surgery
Problems affecting the anus, as well as gallstones and other disorders like haemorrhoids, are treated on a consultancy basis by the Abdominal Surgery department of LUKS Sursee. Dr. med. Alessandro Wildisen, Head of Department for Surgery at LUKS Sursee visits the SPC twice a month to carry out these consultations.
