Recognising and using resources
If you wish to actively participate in your therapy, it is important that you review and optimise your self-care strategies. You will start to get a feel for how to handle and control your pain. As a result, you will find that you are better able to deal with your pain during your everyday life.
Active again – but how?
By gradually resuming and modifying everyday situations that had been avoided due to pain, patients regain confidence in their body and mobility. Positive ideas and feelings are encouraged and reinforced during the course of the therapy. Here, modern treatment approaches are based primarily on cognitive-behavioural models, and applied in accordance with the precepts of physiotherapy. On a behavioural level, the improved structuring of daily activities and an increased awareness of tendencies for making excessive or insufficient demands on oneself also form an important basis for achieving a healthy balance in one’s everyday life. You will also learn and practise the concept of "pacing” (a gradual increase in workload) in a variety of common situations. As a result, you will become stronger and better able to handle whatever comes your way.
